- Vipavska dolina has a transitional climate where moderate Mediterranean influence from the west meets continental influence; average annual rainfall is about 1,400–1,700 mm, with the heaviest rainfall in June, September and November.
- Soils
- Vipavska dolina is formed from Eocene flysch sediments, on which characteristic rendzina, saturated brown, leached brown and pseudogley soils have developed.
