    Beira Interior is a Portuguese wine Denominação de Origem Controlada (DOC) located in central Portugal in the Beiras VR wine region.
    Climate
    The Beira Interior PDO area receives about 800–1,000 mm of precipitation per year, concentrated in winter and spring, while July and August are very dry with average rainfall below 10 mm per month.
    Soils
    Beira Interior PDO vineyards are planted on brown or red Mediterranean soils over metamorphosed schist and gneiss, brown Mediterranean soils over Precambrian schist or greywacke, and non-humic litholic soils over granite and migmatite.
