    The Algarve PGI production area covers the entire Faro District.
    Climate
    The Algarve PGI area has a strongly Mediterranean climate that is hot, dry and relatively calm, with small temperature ranges and more than 3,000 hours of sunshine per year; Atlantic influence moderates temperatures.
    Soils
    The Algarve PGI specification permits a diverse soil set including sandy and sandstone litholic soils, psammitic regosols, calcareous brown or red soils, modern alluvial soils, and skeletal schist or greywacke soils.
