    This district south of Paarl is cooled by Atlantic breezes and is producing some exciting cool-climate Sauvignon blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot noir.

    Western Cape winegrowing areas span a broad soil mosaic, including Bokkeveld shale and Table Mountain sandstone, alluvial valley soils, lime-rich soils, sandy to red-clay loams, weathered shale and highly variable valley soils.
